Divergent Series: Allegiant (2016) Trailer

It seems like most of the dystopian youth fantasy films based off books are coming to an end one at a time. The final installment in The Hunger Games series comes out this week; Maze Runner has one film to go and Divergent will see its final installment take place in March 2016 (While Ender’s Game appears to be lagging behind). Here’s the trailer for the latest Divergent Series film, Allegiant. Enjoy…

Okay so it looks like Jeff Daniels is the head of NASA as well as this weird organisation that has clearly been conducting an experiment on the people in the place where Tris grew up.

These films always make me think “There’s always a bigger fish”. It seems like every time our heroes get past something they end up having to face an even bigger obstacle.

Is this perhaps a metaphor for real life? Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe **** yourself. I’m clearly going on a tangent here. Anyway, hope you enjoyed the trailer. I didn’t, because I think that Divergent (and Maze Runner) have both taken a cheaper route in terms of creating this new (and importantly, different) obstacle at the end of the tunnel.

What The Hunger Games gets right is that the rebellion is building towards a single standoff; a grand battle right at the end. I haven’t read all of the books, so who knows, maybe after they defeat their nemesis, there will be some new foe to face.

I just find this type of thing exhausting, but I’ll still go and check out the film anyway; good entertainment.

Here’s the IMDB Synopsis for the film:

“Beatrice Prior and Tobias Eaton venture into the world outside of the fence and are taken into protective custody by a mysterious agency known as the Bureau of Genetic Welfare.”
