Oscars Predictions 2017: Best picture

Ladies and gents. It’s the big one. The main event. Best picture. And here’s who we think should take the top prize at this year’s Academy Awards.

Moonlight

There are many reasons why this is the best film of 2017, but simply it told a beautiful, unique and important story with excellent directing, cinematography, score and acting. It was the perfect package and should be awarded the top prize.

Dean

Moonlight

I’ve been saying I want Moonlight to win everything but if they only win this one, I will be happy. A beautiful film. A deserving best picture.

Jeslyn

La la land

I want Moonlight to win so badly that I’m still going back and forth about it. But I think La La Land will win. It is definitely the most colourful movie I’ve ever seen but other than that it just makes me smile. The music is amazing and for someone who loves musicals like I do to say that it’s one of my favourites, it’s high praise.

Moonlight is going to take this, and this decision of mine is based purely on the critical acclaim that this film has been getting. Critics and audiences simply love this film. It tells an interesting story from an often underrepresented person in a most captivating way that brings people of all sorts closer to the experience of this young man.
It’s beautifully crafted and shares a unique experience, which is exactly what we expect of the art we observe and consume as audiences.
