Whiplash, the Short Film

Whiplash got tons of buzz in the awards season that’s just gone by; JK Simmons picked up an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, while the film also got the nod for Best Film Editing and Best Sound Mixing.

But long before this, Damien Chazelle made a short film, also called Whipash, starring JK Simmons. The film was made to draw investors, and after watching it below, you’ll understand why it worked.

JK Simmons is just as formidable in his performance in this short, and the sound throughout the film is Oscar-worthy itself.
