The Skywalker Saga: Star Wars Episodes I – VII Reviewed

Ladies and gentlemen of the world, we are so damn close to a new Star Wars movie, we can almost feel the effects of the Force on the physical world around us. As we’ve been building up to the latest installment, we decided to consolidate all of our reviews into one super post about the Skywalker saga to date.

If you didn’t know, the Skywalker saga is basically Luke’s story (The original trilogy of of episodes IV, V & VI), Anikin’s story (Episodes I, II & III) and [we’ll let you decide]’s story (Episodes VII, VIII & IX).

Below you’ll find a short excerpt from each of the reviews we’ve done on the films in the saga so far, along with a READ MORE option to check out the entire review for said film. Click on this to check out the individual reviews.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace

Star Wars The Phantom Menace

Now I know that there are people out there who are fans of the prequel trilogy because of the amount of information and exposition they provide, and also just as films; but I am also very aware that there are people out there who can not stand the prequel trilogy, and have lost faith in George Lucas altogether as a result of them….

Next up we’ve got the second installment in the prequel trilogy from the late 90’s and early 00’s.

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones

George Lucas was quite adamant about the fact that while the expectation for Star Wars films is that they are predominantly sci-fi fantasy space films, this one is actually a love story at its core. Not that the two are mutually exclusive, but it’s definitely worth noting that Lucas made that distinction himself….

The next installment is one some would call the best film in the prequel trilogy, which was not well loved by the Star Wars fan community overall.

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

So what’s my take on Revenge of the Sith? Compared to the first two episodes, it’s basically a masterpiece. But that’s not saying much. Still, it’s a good way to end off the trilogy….

Now that we’ve wrapped up the prequel trilogy, let’s move into the original trilogy of films, starting with the first ever Star Wars movie, released in 1977. This is the film that started it all…

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope

This is where it all began, in a galaxy far, far away … in 1977. By that time George Lucas had quite a few films under his belt, but they were smaller projects and documentaries. This was his first real shot at a big budget Hollywood film, and he kinda nailed it. Here’s why…

A new Hope may have been the introduction into the universe, but then cam a huge surprise when the sequel landed 3 years later. Empire effectively changed how we view sequels, as it was a big surprise for audiences and critics alike, and has one of the greatest WTF twists ever known…

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

Today I bring you a review for what is objectively the best Star Wars film to date – Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Yes, that’s clearly an opinion, but let me explore why I think that Empire Strikes Back is the best Star Wars film out there…

All good things must come to an end, and so the original Star Wars trilogy wrapped up with its final installment in 1983. Return of the Jedi was a very different film, as Lucasfilm opted to construct and market the film to appeal to a much larger audience…

Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

Return of the Jedi

We have been doing a marathon to reacquaint ourselves and our readers with what came before it and doing reviews on these films to get excited about the new release. Our Star Wars re watch concludes with a review of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi – the final installment of the iconic trilogy.

And that ended the saga… for now. Then… 30 years later, we heard whispers of a new Star Wars film; one that would not only take part in the same universe, but also involve many of the cast from the original trilogy. And with that, The Force Awakens was born into the world…

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Star Wars the Force Awakens Poster

I saw it a day after its U.S release, which was a staggering 3 days after its release here in South Africa. Those 3 days felt like an eternity for a geek like me, having to avoid social media and the internet in general for that entire time- although I’ll admit it was slightly emancipating too, but that’s a whole other discussion…

Now that hat’s over, we are atiently waiting, mere days away from the next Star Wars film in the Skywalker Sage – Episode VIII: The Last Jedi.
