Weekend Binge Watch: Friends from College

Friends from College is a Netflix Original show following a group of friends who went to Harvard together but are by no means nerds. In fact for a group of Harvard graduates they seem only semi-successful (except one) and normal like the rest of us; just trying to get their lives together.

Keegan-Michael Key (Key and Peele) and Colbie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) play a cute couple (Ethan and Lisa) who move to New York and reunite with their friends whom they’re still genuinely close to.

They spend a lot of time together and even sleep on the couch of one friend while they search for an apartment; so these friendships are solid. They’ve even dated amongst each other, which causes a bit of trouble so many years later.

Friends from College covers their relationships, careers, adultery and fertility so it isn’t a straight up comedy but it is funny.

I found the first two episodes generally enjoyable, enough for me to continue, and by the third episode and one and a half glasses of wine I was rolling around on the couch laughing.

The third and fifth episodes are definitely the best and unfortunately there are only eight episodes but this short amount of time makes for a literal and great ’Netflix and chill’ kind of night.

Although Keegan-Michael Key is the star, the entire cast is fantastic and by the end of the season I was attached to the characters and am so confused that the show got such a low score on rotten tomatoes because I truly loved it and can’t wait for the second season of Friends from College.
