Lion Spoiler-Free Review
After watching this film I tweeted that the if Manchester by the Sea should be called Manchester by the Feels, then Lion would just be called Feels.
This film takes us on a surreal journey, resulting from a highly unlikely set of circumstances experienced by a young man born in a small village in rural India.
The film offers us some amazing performances from the start with young actor Sunny Pawar’s performance which is absolutely stunning; this kid is awesome and he should have been nominated for an Oscar too.
Then there’s Dev Patel who’s actually nominated. He goes through a ton of different emotions in this film, and all of them seem justified and are portrayed with excellence; but we all knew after Slumdog Millionaire how epic this dude was.
The movie dragged a bit in the middle, and I couldn’t quite put my finger on the exact purpose of the love interest (maybe after a second watch I can appreciate that a bit more), but overall Lion is a film that’s worth your time. Go check it out with your family and loved ones, but prepare yourself for ultimate feels.
