8 Movie & TV Trailers in October So Far

October has been a month of epic trailers so far. Here’s a brief roundup of some of the best (and moderate, and bad) trailers released in October so far. Enjoy, and don’t forget to share this post!

Star Wars: Rogue One Trailer #2

The latest Star Wars: Rogue One trailer has landed (the second one to be released so far), and it offers a closer look at some key characters, as well as confirmation on what “Rogue One” actually means! Check it out below:

This look straight up like we are going to get introduced to a bunch of amazing characters who we will love; but then they’re all going to die (or most of them are at least).

Release Date: 16 December 2016

Black Mirror Season 3 Trailer

So here’s the thing with Black Mirror. It’s crazy, it’s uncanny- like it could be based on technology that either already exists, or is like a year away from existing- and it sometimes deals with some heavy social and philosophical issues. Because of this, it’s not for everyone; however, if you watch the following trailer and are intrigued, then you may want to due in for this series that will be released on Netflix really soon.

Because this is an anthology series, you can watch any episode in isolation (I’m assuming this will be the case), but do yourself a favour; if you haven’t watched the previous episodes, do get hold of them and check it out. It may just change the way you view the technology we use every day.

Release Date: 21 October 2016

Iron Fist Trailer (Netflix)

So there’s been some ideas (and controversy) flying around that Danny Rand (aka Iron Fist) should have been played by an Asian actor, because the white saviour/ hero using oriental martial arts and meta-human techniques is a tired trope; but whatever your opinion on the matter, check our the trailer and decide for yourself whether you’re going to binge it on Netflix or not:

After a strong slate so far in terms of the Marvel-Netflix universe (Daredevil, Jessica Jones and most recently, Luke Cage), iron Fist has a lot of hype to live up to; and so does the standalone The Punisher series, and The Defenders that will come thereafter. But one step at a time. Will you be tuning in to Iron Fist when it drop son Netflix early next year?

Release Date: 17 March 2017

John Wick 2

The Legendary Assassin with kickass moves and unlimited headshot capabilities is back in the latest trailer for John Wick Chapter 2. He also has a new sidekick (we think). Check out the trailer below:

Oh my LORD, that Matrix reunion was amazing. When Laurence Fishburne appeared, I lost my mind. John Wick should have been a throwaway film, but the heart-wrenching story (poor doggy), the amazing choreography, a good performance from Keanu Reeves, and some interesting world-building, turned this into a much-loved original new franchise. Let’s hope that John Wick Chapter 2 lives up to the hype.

Release Date: 10 February 2017

Power Rangers

Or The Breakfast Club 2? All I can say about this trailer is that it didn’t utterly disappoint me. That can happen so easily with this kind of nostalgia-mining tactics. Watch the trailer and decide for yourself:

Many people were cynical about the trailer, saying it seems cheesy, but to be honest I think they strike a good balance of nostalgia for the fans; while introducing viewers from a more recent generation to this interesting world.

Release Date: 24 March 2016

Underworld Blood Wars

The saga seemed to just hang in limbo in a random place for years and years. And now we get a follow-up to see what happened (I think). Check out the latest trailer for Underworld: Blood Wars:

Say what you want, but Kate Beckinsale’s still got it. We also get to see some Game of Thrones favourites (for me at least) in the form of Charles Dance and Tobias Menzies; legendary in their own rights. What did you think of the trailer?

Release January: 6 January 2016

Get Out

Dude, I don’t know what to make of this. It’s directed by Jordon Peele (Yes, the same guy from Key & Peele), so it’s got this weird twisted, dark humour to it; but this is a straight-up horror film. Check out the creepy trailer below:

If you’re skeptical after that crazy trailer; I recommend you watch this, even if it’s just to see what I presume will be an amazing performance by Daniel Kaluuya. He actually starred in a Black Mirror episode (See episode entitled “Fifteen Million Merits“), as well as Sicario; and has been cast in the upcoming Marvel Studios Black Panther film as well. Definitely an A-Lister in the making.

Release Date: 24 February 2017

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Have we had enough of this saga, or is there room for more? With the latest controversy surrounding Johnny Depp, it’s probably best that he’s completely absent from the trailer (at least for the sake of the film’s success, I guess? – not brushing off the allegations, juts making an observation about how that type of thing can affect the performance of  a film). Anyway, back to the somewhat creepy-ass trailer, check it out below:

Release Date: 26 May 2016

Look man, all I can say is that Javier Bardem is one creepy mofo! I will probably watch this, and I’m thinking the visual effects is reason enough to check it out on the big screen.
