Yesterday we got our second, more meatier taste of what Ridley Scott’s The Martian will look like. Matt Damon plays an astronaut (again!) left behind by his team on Mars after a brutal storm. Check out the awesome trailer below:
Personally, I really enjoyed this trailer (a lot more than the first one). We get a sense of who this guy is, the severity of his situation, and a bunch of one-liners from a really great all-star cast.
Here’s the IMDB Synopsis for the film:
During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.
The film is directed by Ridley Scott and set for release 30 September 2015. The screenplay was written by Drew Goddard (World War Z, Cloverfield), based on the book by Andy Weir, and stars Matt Damon, Kate Mara, Kristen Wiig, Jessica Chastain, Seasn Bean, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Peña and a whole bunch of really awesome other people.
I imagine this one is going to pick up a bunch of the technical awards during awards season, much like Gravity and Interstellar did.
