Father’s Day Tribute – 3 of our Favourite Film Dads

To celebrate Father’s Day we thought we’d make a short list of 3 of our favourite dads in film, noting some of the wisdom they’ve shared.

Mac MacGuff

The first awesome dad in our list is the father of the beloved Juno, played by the talented J.K Simmons. This character is quirky and intelligent; it’s not hard to see where Juno gets her higher-grade sense of humour from.

Juno's Dad

‘Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you, the right person is still going to think the sun shines out your ass. That’s the kind of person that’s worth sticking with.’

Ben Parker

The next awesome dad figure is Uncle Ben from Spiderman, played by the late Cliff Robertson. Although Ben is not Spidey’s biological father, he is probably the one man who had the most influence in young Peter’s life growing up, and played a major role in shaping the man Peter grows up to be.

Uncle Ben from Spiderman

‘With great power, comes great responsibility’

Vito Corleone

Saving the best for last: Don Corleone from The Godfather, played by the late, great Marlon Brando. The Don is a powerful man who is as loving toward his family as he is ruthless toward his enemies. Vito Corleone, in his old age, reflects on his life of struggle and rise to power, concerned about his children and the legacy they will inherit.

The Godfather Don Corleone

‘A man who doesn’t spend time with his family can never be a real man’

These are 3 very different dads who are all pretty awesome in their own way.

For those of you who have a dad or father figure in your life, do your best to always appreciate him, not only today. For those of you who have lost a father, make sure you remember the things he taught you and did for you- and live your life as a tribute.

A happy Father’s Day to our dads, and to all the dads of the world.
