Will Smith Looks pained in Concussion Trailer
Awards season is closer than it seems, and it’s about that time of year that the heavy-hitters (in terms of awards, not box office numbers) in the lineup of movies for the year start to show up more and more.
Enter Concussion, a film poised for awards season with an A-list actor, a promising new director, and a very controversial story line. Check out the Concussion trailer below:
The IMDB Synopsis is as follows:
“Will Smith stars in the incredible true David vs. Goliath story of Dr. Bennet Omalu, the brilliant forensic neuropathologist who made the first discovery of CTE, a football-related brain trauma, in a pro player.”
“Goliath” in this synopsis refers to the NFL, which is basically the official church of the United States of America. At one point in the trailer a naysayer even tells Dr. Omalu (or Smith as Omalu) that he’s going against an institution that owns a day of the week.
After I saw the trailer, I immediately went to find out more about Dr. Omalu and his story, and all I can say without spoiling is that this is definitely one epic tale worth telling. I am also really impressed with how far Will Smith has come in terms of his accents. He’s doing a lot better, and although he doesn’t sound much like Dr. Omalu, it kinda works for me. Lets hope Will Smith gets a couple of nods for this role during awards season.
