Horror, fantasy, action, and science-fiction lovers prepare yourselves: The Strain premieres tonight, July 13th on FX, and it’s here to to keep you awake at night — with fear or excitement, or maybe both.
Here’s a more detailed description of what to expect, posted by FX on IMDb:
“A thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.”
The series is based on Chuck Hogan and Guillermo Del Toro’s novel of the same name. Del Toro has been heavily involved in the creation of the series to this point, as he’s also been directing. At the very least, expect to be creeped the hell out.
The buildup has already been creepy, with the main billboard poster being banned in L.A already.
Check out this inside special to learn more about the vision for the series, and how they brought it to life.
I’m a huge fan of how Guillermo del Toro approaches horror and fantasy. Pan’s Labyrinth is one of my favourite films. With this master of horror involved, I have high hopes for the show’s future, but let’s wait and see how it pans out (Oh that pun hurt!).
About the Author: Stephen is probably a vampire; or an alien. Or an alien vampire. He’s also co-founder of BTG lifestyle: Marketer, filmmaker, blogger.
