Game of Thrones Trailer (Long Walk Promo)

It’s finally here folks, a first official look at the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. Now, to be honest it’s not really a trailer since we don’t get footage that seems like it would be in the actual season (unless they did a montage perhaps); but what it does provide us with is who the actual key players are for the upcoming season.

Check out the trailer below and you’ll see what I mean:

After the crazy ending of season 6, we saw John Snow revealed as an actual Targaryen, he defeated Ramsey, and was crowned the new King in the north. Daenerys laid waste to the proud khals and finally started actually making her way to Westeros with her dragons and army.

Meanwhile, back in King’s Landing, Cersei had blown up her enemies (subsequently leading to the suicide of Tommen) and taken the Iron Throne for herself.

While all of them were busy rising to their highest points to date, a coldness was stirring way North as the White Walkers bring their army of death to all in Westeros and beyond. I’m really looking forward to the battles, twists and compromises that lie ahead in the Game of Thrones universe.

At this point it’s still unclear whether or not the ending of the show and the ending of the book series will be similar at all, since the show runners have already deviated significantly from GRRMs vision. Either way, the show remains some of the most captivating storytelling currently gracing our small screens, and even though this is the penultimate season, I don’t think I’m ready for it to be over any time soon.
