5 Horror Movie Villains Who Made Me Lose Sleep

It’s that time of the year again folks, where we use a random day of the year to express how crazy or slutty we feel 99% of the time. It’s also a great time to watch some really scary movies to get into the Halloween spirit. There are a ton of amazing horror movie villains out there, but here’s a quick list of my top 5 villains from horror movies who struck fear in my innocent heart as a child and teenager.

Michael Myers

Michael Myers

Probbaly one of the most iconic figures in the modern slasher genre. The number 5 spot was a toss-up between Jason Voorhees and Mikey Mike here. In general I’m not very horror-stricken by the idea of a slasher (Hopefully this doesn’t cause a lunatic to come after me for saying that).

I digress; I thought Scream was an amazing film, and so were the Friday the 13th films, but Michael Myers in Halloween brings something else to the table. He’s just so much more screwed up in terms of his past, and just look at that mask? It’s the most creepy out of all slasher masks if you ask me.

Pinhead (Hellraiser)

Pinhead Hellraiser

If I’m going to be completely honest with you, the Hellraiser series was one I did not follow closely. To this day I only have a brief understanding of the connections to Pandora’s (Lemarchand’s) box and the harvesting of souls that goes on. But this guy just freaks me the hell out.

He was a pioneering figure in modern horror films, as he was one of the first to portray high levels of intellect illustrated through speech.

Chucky

chucky

Chucky is the result of a doll being possessed by the spirit of a serial killer. The bastard kills everyone it can get its hand on, and does everything in its power to stay alive at all costs – or rather, to continually transfer his soul into a new body when he gets wrecked. The result: 7 movies. Although, only the first 3 were great, because they came out in the 80’s and 90’s when horror movies were still scary.

I remember when I was a kid and video stores were still a thing. I used to go there almost every Friday with my dad and pick out a few movies to check out over the weekend. Don’t tell my mom, but he would have been totally cool with me hiring a few horror movies – the truth is I just never had the balls to do it. Chucky was one of those VHS covers I used to turn over and look at the screen grabs on the back. Even those gave me shivers and nightmares, and kept me up at night.

Freddy Krueger

Freddy Krueger

Oh Lord Jesus it’s a fire! A fire that couldn’t put an end to Freddy Krueger. This maniac was created by master of horror, Wes Craven and is a child killer who haunts the dreams of his victims, killing them violently if they dare fall asleep.

Now can you imagine that? I was pretty scared of the dark (or rather, what’s in the dark) as a kid, and on top of that I now had to deal with a guy that could kill you in your dreams? Seriously, I just can’t even.

Kayako Saeki

Kayako Saeki

Guys. Let’s pause here for a second. How was this movie rated PG 13? Because this damn thing scared the shit out of me. The way she pulls her face and moves her body chills me to the bone. And that sound she makes? Don’t even get me started on that.

What’s worse is the ubiquitous nature of the character. I can’t even remember which of the movies it was from (I try and push the images from my mind) where she shows up in the someone’s bed. IN THEIR BED! No! I don’t know what it is about this character that freaks me out so much more than any of the other characters on this list.

Editor’s Note: I hope you appreciate the effort it took to do an image search of this character.
