Oscars Predictions 2019: Best Lead Actress and Best Lead Actor
We’ve made it to the lead acting awards! Here’s who we think will take the Oscar for Best Lead Actress and Best Lead Actor.
Ladies first.
Darren
Glenn Close, “The Wife”
A Star is Born was my favourite movie of 2018, and I will still champion Gaga’s performance however she will miss out to Glenn Close. The Academy will treat this like a lifetime achievement award, it’s her turn.
Dean
Glenn Close, “The Wife”
I think there’s going to be an upset with none of the favourites (no pun intended) winning an acting award. Glenn Close could very well take it. Much like Amy Adams she’s been nominated plenty of times but never won. This could finally be her year.
Garth
Glenn Close, “The Wife”
The legendary actor has swept up awards this season but has never ever won an oscar. This is her time.
Stephen
Olivia Colman, “The Favourite”
There’s just no other real option here. Colman has the meatiest role of all and you can just tell that she’s putting it all on the line, having tons of fun while delivering a beast of a performance. I can’t picture anyone else winning this award this year.
Tendai
Olivia Colman, “The Favourite”
This woman is phenomenal. I first saw her on Graham Norton’s couch and from there, she has shown her class in the small and big screen. In The Favourite, I’m convinced she was uncaged and she took the opportunity with both hands. She absolutely nailed it and really gave us a memorable performance. I can’t wait to hear her speech.
Vernon
Olivia Colman, “The Favourite”
You know I love a crazy female lead who can be a bitch, a lover, a comedienne, ugly, pretty and just a full out mess with inflammation on the legs.
And now the gentlemen…
Darren
Christian Bale, “Vice”
I really would’ve loved Bradley Cooper to win, he drove A Star is Born forward but it looks like he is going to miss out to Christian Bale, who takes body transformation to the next level, and he really makes a heart-attack look classy AF.
Dean
Rami Malek, “Bohemian Rhapsody”
Loved the film. Loved his performance. Last act gave me goosebumps and it’s most because of Rami Malek. Plus, the Awards show trend says he’ll win it. I don’t need much more convincing. It won’t win Best Picture but it will get this one.
Garth
?Rami Malek, “Bohemian Rhapsody”
Being my favourite pick and an extremely bias one at that. Even among the behemoth actors in this category Rami stands apart for his portrayal of the legend that is Mercury. Simply captivating portrayal. In my opinion, the only other competition in this category being method acting pro Bale, I say Rami will take the award.
Stephen
Rami Malek, “Bohemian Rhapsody”
Say what you want about Bohemian Rhapsody, but it was an entertaining film, and that was mostly a result of Malek’s performance. He’s a great actor and while not everyone was blown away by how Freddie was portrayed, that was more a result of the script and a studio taming the over-the-top nature of Freddie Mercury to appeal to a broader audience. With what he had, Malek did a great job and could very likely claim the Oscar.
Tendai
Rami Malek, “Bohemian Rhapsody”
He has been on fire! And I bet his campaigning has been stronger than his performance. No one really gave this movie a chance but Malek seemed to have channeled all of that and left it on the screen. And to be honest, when the poster came out, I could sense we’re onto something here. I didn’t think it was going to be a string of wins. Might as well cap it off with the big one!
Vernon
Viggo Mortensen, “Green Book”
This category possibly for the first time in history has me thinking about it the most as they are all Great. Previous years there was that terrible one who didn’t deserve the mom but these guys. My all time favourite was Rami. My heart goes for Willem but what was astonishing was Viggo.
