The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist Trailer

Remember in 2013 when a film by director James Wan was getting a lot of buzz as the scariest film of the year, or rather as the scariest film in a really long time in general? That was The Conjuring, and boy did it live up to the hype! Now we’ve just got the first trailer for the sequel entitled The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist which will continue to follow protagonists Ed and Lorraine Warren on their supernatural adventures. Enjoy…

James Wan just has a way with horror; everything from the way the camera moves, to the lighting, composition, film grade, score, sound design and the nuanced way in which the actors are directed; all of these elements work together so well to generate legitimate FEAR in moviegoers in 2016. This much I can tell from a trailer as this was pretty damn creepy.

There was a time not too many years ago (before The Conjuring) that myself and many other critics were sure that the horror genre was done; that nobody could evoke sincere fear in film audiences. I think Wan has revitalized horror, and for that I’m really looking forward to this film.

The first film has a nice balance of making you wait in anticipation (a trait that Hitchcock was famous for), and showing you the ugly side of supernatural entities (like Friedkin did with The Exorcist). I’m hoping the second film has similar traits, and by the look of the trailer it would seem so.

Cheers to horror still being alive and well in 2016! Did you enjoy the trailer for The Conjuring 2, and are you looking forward to the film? Let us know your thoughts and don’t forget to share this post.
